"Light up Myanmar - Pray for the 328 earthquake" warm appeal
 10 Apr 2025

Dear Family, Partners, Friends from all walks of life, and all who care for Myanmar:

As the scars of the 3/28 earthquake still faintly ache on the land of Myanmar, we deeply understand that what is needed at this moment is not a splendid ceremony, but a pure concern, a warm candlelight that can penetrate the darkness.

I. This is just a simple moment of silence, yet it is the deepest blessing

We invite you to walk with us in the simplest way: Light a lamp, observe a minute of silence, and convey compassion and blessings to every affected compatriot. No elaborate procedures, no vast resources are required. Regardless of where you are, just a light and a sincere heart can converge into a galaxy of hope, illuminating the night sky of Myanmar. This "compassionate perspective" is our common language that transcends language and distance.

II. We understand your concerns, but please believe that kindness will ultimately meet

We know that many organizations are concerned about the sharing of resources, pressure, and responsibilities. Some worry about the insignificance of their strength, some are concerned about the burden of affairs, and even more are afraid that their kindness will be misunderstood. But please believe: We have never asked anyone to go it alone. This event is not a "responsibility" but a "shared intention"; not a "burden" but a resonance of "love." All participating partners, whether they donate a minute of silence, a warmth of light, or a support of supplies, are equal companions. We listen to your concerns; we protect your kindness.

III. Let us create a cycle of "love" together

This is not a grand statement of redemption, but a gentle hand-in-hand. When the Kokang Women's Association sews prayer banners, when the Myanmar Taiwan Alumni Association sets up charity stalls, when the Shan Business Association lights the first lamp— We are all doing the same thing: letting the affected children know that they have never been forgotten; letting the broken homes hear that hope is still taking root. Every moment of the event will become a testament to "love": • At the charity fair, what you buy is not just an item, but a blessing entrusted to the future; • At the prayer ceremony, what you light is not just a candlelight, but a heart that transcends pain.

To the world: Myanmar needs you, and we need each other

Today, we extend our hands to friends all over the world— Whether you are in Taipei, Singapore, Malaysia, or New York, As long as you light a lamp, you are family with the same heartbeat as Myanmar. Earthquakes can destroy buildings, but they cannot destroy the purest connection between people. Let us use our light to tell Myanmar: "In the corners of the world, there are always people praying for you; at the end of darkness, there is always a light welcoming you."

The final sincere invitation

Dear partners, if you are still hesitant, please give yourself a gentle try. No need to promise huge contributions, just believe: The light of a lamp can illuminate a child's eyes; A minute of silence can soothe a mother's tears; The transmission of a blessing can make the broken land hear the sound of hope again. On April 12th, the National Theatre of Yangon, we await you. If you cannot attend in person, please light a lamp with us in the distance at the same time— Because love needs no threshold; because hope belongs to everyone forever.

Let us encourage each other with an ancient Myanmar proverb: "A solitary lamp will extinguish, but gathered starlight can start a prairie fire." Let us together light up this prairie of stars for Myanmar.

—— Sincerely, The Joint Initiating Units
